Grammar Point: Question Tags

We use Question Tags to check if the information given is true or not. 

How to build a question tag?

  •  If the previous sentence is affirmative, the question tag is written in the negative form. 
  • If the previous sentence is negative, the question tag is written in the affirmative form. 
Here, you can see some examples...

Present Simple: 
  • It is raining, isn't it?
  • They aren't rich, are they?
Past Simple:

  • He went to Italy two years ago, didn't he?
  • She didn't play football last week, did she?

Present Perfect:

  • We have been studying English since September, haven't we?
  • You have never learnt Chinese, have you?

Future: 

  • We'll watch a film next Thursday, won't we?
  • They won't travel by car, will they?
