Grammar point: The Past Simple Tense

Good morning!

This is a grammar point in which I am going to explain the Past Simple Tense. 

We learnt how the affirmative, negative and interrogative forms of the regular verbs are built.

Affirmative Structure: Subject + infinitive + -d or -ed
Negative Structure: Subject + did + not + infinitive 
Interrogative: Did + Subject + infinitive +?

Now, let's focus on the IRREGULAR VERBS. 

Irregular verbs must be studied by heart. If you have a look at the list of the verbs, you'll notice that there are three forms: Base form, past form and past participle form. What you have to do is to study the second column. 

For instance, the past form of the verb to fly is flew.
